Why This App?
Buying gifts for a group can be both stressful and expensive. This game offers offers an alternative where everyone gets a gift they want, you only need to purchase one gift someone specifically asked for and the group can still gather and enjoy time spent together.
How to Play
Create or join a group
Enter the gift you want (required), description and/or a link if available
Once all members have entered a gift the group admin will distribute the gifts wanted for other members to buy
Open app when this is complete and you will see the gift you need to buy
Buy the gift assigned to you
Get together and open the gifts
When ready, the admin will reveal the gifts
Go to the Play Game tab and guess who asked for which gift
Submit your guesses and when everyone has done this the admin will reveal the results
Group Admin Tasks
If you are in charge of setting up the group, here is what you will need to do.
Create a group on the home screen and set a spending limit
In the Group Details screen, invite users to your group. An invite email will be sent but it's not required to join through the email. Users just need to download the app and register using the same email you added to the group.
Monitor the group and when everyone has entered a gift they want, click the update gifts to buy button. If users were invited but don't join the group they will be automatically removed. You have the ability to remove any member from the group before the gifts are distributed.
When the group is ready you can click the Reveal Gifts button on the group details tab. This will all everyone to guess who asked for gifts on the play game tab. Once all guesses are in, press the show results button to show how many correct guesses everyone got. The number of correct guesses will always show but the dropdown selections will only remain while the app is open.
Why do I have to pay for the app?
Most apps make money by either charging to download, showing ads, or offering subscriptions. Once you pay for the app, there is nothing else to buy. There are no subscriptions or trial periods. Use it as much as you want for as long as you want. There also aren't any random ads. Ads may be used in the future but they would be targeted to gifts you are looking for.
More about the game
Coming from a big family, Christmas time became expensive trying to but gifts for our ever expanding group. Rather than everyone getting smaller gifts that weren't always useful we came up with this game as a way to get a gift you will actually use and still have fun when get together to open gifts. We have everyone pick a random present from the pile and then take turns opening them while taking notes on who want each one. To make things more interesting, we all contribute to a pot that goes to whoever gets the most correct guesses. Hopefully this game is as enjoyable for your group as it is for our family
